Ms Rean Monfils,  Environmental Scientist, SPM Representative, Australia – Ms Monfils joined SPM in August 2000 and was responsible for the implementation of the Anaerobic Digester Trial in Apia, Samoa until May 2001. This work included liaison with the local public and private sector, as well as NGOs. During her time in Samoa, Ms Monfils undertook an Environmental Impact Assessment for the Digester Trial and designed a recycling scheme for implementation within Apia. Since leaving Samoa, Ms Monfils has been working on the design, and implementation of SPM projects from Australia. Prior to joining SPM, Ms Monfils worked as an environmental journalist for a Samoan newspaper and before that she did independent research on oil spill dispersants and oiled wildlife cleaning techniques. Ms Monfils holds an MSc in marine ecology specialising in marine oil spills and pollution.
